Mombasa Sports Club (MSC) had an unforgettable weekend at their home grounds as they secured back-to-back National League victories, with Antony Onyango emerging as the standout performer.
On Saturday, August 30, MSC edged out new boys Makueni Snippers with a narrow 1–0 win. The decisive moment came in the second quarter when Onyango, recently returning to full fitness, was brought on and made an instant impact by being at the right spot to scoring a well-taken field goal. His energy and sharpness galvanized the entire squad, setting the tone for the rest of the weekend.
The momentum carried into Sunday, August 31, as MSC delivered a commanding 5–1 triumph over Black Tigers, an unbeaten – now formerly unbeaten side in a drizzly affair as the Black Tigers hoped to capitalize on the cool weather that is not the Mombasa norm. Antony Onyango once again the hero of the day, netting a brace to the delight of the home fans. Flavian Nyongesa, Badi “Bad-Boy” Nzole, and Kevin Ayako also added their names to the scoresheet, completing a dominant performance.
The weekend’s matches marked an inspiring comeback for Onyango, who had been sidelined for over 3 months due to health concerns. His contributions directly earned MSC six valuable points, propelling the team higher into 4th Position in the National League EZ standings.
Fans and teammates alike praised Onyango’s resilience and determination, with many calling his return a morale booster for the entire squad. His clinical finishing and D-to-D movement on the pitch showcased not only his individual talent but also MSC’s growing strength as a unit in the National League.
