The heartbeat of the MSC Ladies Hockey team, “The Mavens”, is powered by passion, tradition, and a commitment to the game. At the center of todays story is Mirriam Wesonga, a young player whose journey reflects both personal talent and a legacy rooted deeply in hockey.

Born into a hockey-loving family, Mirriam has grown up surrounded by the sound of sticks on grass and the discipline of competitive sport. Her brothers, Hesborn and Vincent Wesonga, both established Premier League players, have carved their own paths at the highest level of Kenyan hockey. Vincent, in particular, has proudly represented Kenya on multiple national assignments at the Under-21 level and currently in the senior national team, setting the bar high for the family name.

Mirriam’s own journey has been nothing short of inspiring and is at its infancy stage. As the current captain of St. Charles Lwanga High School, she leads from the front, guiding her teammates with vision and maturity well beyond her years. Known in her school hockey circles as a true utility player, she has commanded the midfield with a calm demeanor, intelligence and composure.

At club level with MSC Ladies, Mirriam has shown her versatility once more. Transitioning from midfield to a defensive role, she now anchors the right-back position with determination and grit. Her defensive awareness, and once again composure when needed has led to her growing into a vital asset for The Mavens as they compete in the Ladies Premier League.

But Mirriam is not just about talent on the pitch. She embodies the spirit of MSC Hockey: discipline, resilience, and community.

Her story is proof that the love of the game, when nurtured in both family and community, can create leaders who inspire on and off the turf. With her growing influence and experience as a young leader, Mirriam Wesonga is a name to watch — one that continues to uphold the Wesonga family legacy while blazing her own unique trail in Kenyan hockey.
